User group meeting

The Access/SQL Server/ASP.Net Users Group
Wednesday, April 18 2001, 5:45 pm

Don't forget that as Microsoft have moved to new premises, so has the User Group. Need a Map?

This month - Advanced ADO and ADO.Net

Catapult your working knowledge of ADO through this intensive session packed full of key features. To name a few:

  • Executing a stored procedure
  • Utilising prepared statements
  • Returning multiple result sets to a single Recordset object
  • Using ADO to support complex cursors, including batch, client and server side cursors
  • Using batch updating
  • Generating multiple result sets
  • Working with Persistent Recordsets
  • Asynchronous Operations
  • Using ADOx for Data Definition Language (DDL) operations

ADO.Net is a big step away from ADO, but is it a step forward? It is pretty cool, but it's going to take some work implementing it into your applications.

One great feature is that ADO.Net has been designed to work with disconnected data sets. This is great for your applications as disconnected data sets are faster to process and transmit.

Adam Cogan will lead you step-by-step through the "How To's" of implementing ADO.Net.

See You There! | Sorry I can't make it

Adam Cogan is appointed MS Regional Director

Nick Abbot from Microsoft Australia said "We're pleased to offer Adam the appointment as Australia's MS Regional Director. Microsoft benefits from the increased exposure to the local market through Adam's involvement with the Access/SQL Server/ASP.Net Users Group, the conferences he speaks at, as well as the day-to-day operations of SSW."

Adam is one of only two Microsoft Regional Directors in Australia. In this role, he regularly visits Microsoft headquarters in Seattle to learn the latest on Microsoft strategic directions and to undertake training in development technologies. This provides SSW employees, its clients and user group attendees with a special relationship in the computer software industry - technical support at the highest level, and a measure of protection for their business investments in a rapidly evolving technology environment.

New Product SSW LookOut for MS Outlook

SSW LookOut for MS Outlook is great utility that adds a client ID field into your Outlook view. This way you can see which emails are from contacts in your corporate database, using the email address to search. This works best at present with SQL Server.
