This
month Adam Cogan
will be talking on building Pocket PC 2002 Applications with C#. PDAs are a
really convenient device for many business uses. This session shows how you can
use the .NET Compact Framework to create real world applications. We'll also
look at using SQL Server on a handheld device. Along the way Adam will
highlight some of the features and technologies that you need to be especially
careful with and show how you can overcome their limitations.
In
addition George Doubinski will be talking about his recently
enhanced portal site, which now has the ability to specify
human-readable URLs for pages. The subjects covered are:
- HttpFilters and HttpModules in ASP.NET: what they are for
and how they placed in the architecture
- global error handling in ASP.NET including HTTP errors such
as 404 Not Found
- interaction between IIS and Framework runtime

The Cutting Edge |
Promises made by email are often pretty empty - the person who
made the promise either has to make a note in a paper diary,
stick a post-it note to his screen, or regularly trawl through
Sent Items for all the off-hand promises made.

Keep
your SQL Server database free from design flaws with SSW SQL Auditor
Maintaining
quality code across a large team is difficult. Even when standards
are in place developers can make mistakes that will slip through
QA. SSW SQL Auditor, built in VB .NET, allows a developer
to set SQL Server design rules and then check the database
for code or design elements that ignores those rules. SSW
SQL Auditor not only reports on design flaws, it also generates
sample scripts that enable you to fix those flaws. More
