G'Day Developers!

Once you have a website up and running, it is important to make sure:

  • You have an easy was to test it
  • It keeps running under load

Easy Automated Testing

Typical issues that result from web page errors are:

  • Application Crashes due to:
    • Bugs in code
    • Database issues

Easy Load Testing

Typical issues that these tests find are:

  • Very slow load times
  • Application Crashes due to:
    • Insufficient resources - so application pools are recycled
    • Too many concurrent users causing race conditions
    • Too many users trying to connect to the database

Web Tests help you avoid these issues by preempting them before you go live. Some issues might be resolved by getting a better web server, while others might require code changes and optimizations.

See the rest of this rule, and others on the SSW Rules page.

Hardcore LINQ to Entities (Part 2) by Adam Cogan

Adam will take a deep dive into LINQ to Entities showing you best practices, pitfalls to avoid, and answers to the most frequently asked questions, telling you exactly what you need to know. Adam will pull apart all the key components of the LINQ to Entities framework, discussing and showing how each part integrates with each other, and how you can quickly create and modify your data access conceptual schema.

This session will provide samples on how you can use the power of LINQ plus the new ADO.NET Entity Framework, to build advanced and fully featured data access layers immediately, without pain.

Zoom it!, Find it!, See it!
SpykVirtual Earth

Virtual Earth is a powerful online mapping technology that allows maps to be seamlessly integrated into a website. AJAX technology means users can smoothly pan and zoom the maps, and data visualised on the map, such as traffic data, climate change, and housing prices can be dynamically updated.

To showcase this technology, SSW has developed www.Spyk.com, an award winning Real Estate website aggregating housing prices from other major portals.
