G'Day Developers!

This Wednesday - Last User Group Presentation in Australia by Jonas Folles?/strong>

Jonas originally planned that his Silverlight Designer & Developer Network presentation was going to be the last one he gave in Australia before flying back to Norway. But then he and Hege decided to do some travelling before going home, they were up in Byron Bay enjoying some diving and surfing.

Wednesday Jonas flies down to Sydney for a couple of days, and his good friend Adam Cogan asked if he could give a Silverlight talk at the Sydney .NET User Group. Off course he said yes, so on Wednesday evening (10th December) he is giving a talk on business applications in Silverlight.

Building data-centric applications in Silverlight 2

In this presentation you will get a overview of how to build data-centric (line-of-business) applications in Silverlight 2 using LINQ to SQL and WCF on the server. The presentation will cover how to deal with authentication for your WCF services from a Silverlight application, tips on how to architect your Silverlight application, and how to build flexible, testable code your designers can work with. You will also get a sneak preview of an application framework Microsoft is working on to make building business applications easier.

ASP.NET Dynamic Data - Data entry made easy by Eric Phan

When working with databases, we often need to create some administrative pages to do all our CRUD (Create/Read/Update/Delete) operations on the tables. This can be a long and repetitive process if you don't use a code generator. Thankfully in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Dynamic data allows us to create all those pages without writing a single line of code! In this session you will also find out how to customize these admin pages with different looks and data entry controls.

Worley ParsonsTake advantage of powerful features for managing and rendering content to users

SSW recently completed the development of the biggest public facing SharePoint 2007 website in the southern hemisphere for WorleyParsons. The site takes advantage of many of SharePoint’s powerful features for managing and rendering content to users. The site is built upon a series of lists and content types that are used to allow simple management of the data. SharePoint web parts were customized, and custom web parts implemented to allow content editors to use content rollup in a variety of ways across the site, for example a summary of news items relating to regions across the world. JQuery was used throughout the site to add more interactivity, such as with the menu navigation. Styles were defined for the site and all content allowing content editors to maintain and add further data without losing the look and feel.

Check out the site in all its glory! www.worleyparsons.com.
