G'day Developers!

2011 has been a great year for SSW. We have added some key senior members to our team, started SSW TV and worked on many cool projects. I am especially proud of the team to go live with some of the largest .NET solutions in Autralia. These being for an auction company, a retail company and an energy provider.

Well done guys

We believe 2012 will be even better.

You can expect some of the following benefits next year:

  • A focus on releasing regular high quality content on SSW TV
  • Marlon will run regular webinars where we demo the subject matter
  • Adding a NEW 3 day scrum course allowing your teams to get trained faster

Have great Christmas and enjoy your holidays.

Adam

NEW Scrum Training Course

Professional Scrum Developer courses teach students how to work in a team, using modern software engineering practices, to develop an increment of potentially releasable functionality using a specific technology platform. Students learn to do so within the Scrum framework doing iterative incremental development.

Classes are exercise-driven, with students working in self-organizing teams to develop “done” increments from Product Backlog items.

Course at a Glance

This 3-day Professional Scrum Developer .NET course is a mix of lecture, demonstration, group discussion, simulation, and hands-on software development. The bulk of the course will be spent working as a team on a case study application delivering increments of new functionality in mini-sprints. Here is the course at a glance:

Scrum

Note: Scrum fundamentals are not covered in this 3-day course. If you are not experienced with Scrum fundamentals, the 5 day course is still available.

Scrum either through working on a Scrum Team or through taking part in a Professional Scrum Foundations course.

Interface Usability - Adding Schweppervescence

Speaker: Adam Cogan

iPhones give an awesome User Experience but interface design is not something that belongs solely in the world of Apple. Your website and applications can all benefit greatly from an understanding of how your users might navigate your product. Unfortunately for developers, interface usability is something of an afterthought, making your otherwise perfect application suck.

In this session, get real world examples of good and bad usability from Adam. Bring along your websites and applications and undergo the Adam Cogan crash test!

The session will commence with a detailed discussion of good interface design and usability, and then move onto an analysis of good and bad site examples.

The presentation will Finish with an open floor workshop to discuss user submitted sites and applications, and workshop improvements for attendeesas well as a vote on applying the correct architecture in certain situations (Ajax vs Silverlight vs WPF vs HTML5).
