G'day Developers!

SSW has had clients and resources in Brisbane for many years but are moving into new offices in Brisbane CBD in the next few weeks.

We are very excited about building new relationships in Queensland.

Rebecca Liu (our cool web designer) is moving to Brisbane to work alongside Damian Brady (Senior Software Architect) so our devs' web apps will be looking even better from now on. Adam Cogan and Marlon Marescia are also in Brisbane on a regular basis.

Call us if you require any assistance. We are looking forward to connecting with our Brisbane and Northern Queensland friends and helping your solve your .NET challenges.

Protecting your Web Apps from the Tyranny of Evil with OWASP

Troy Hunt recently presented at one of our Sydney .NET User Group sessions. If you missed this event, or wanted to see it again, you are able to view the presentation on SSWTV.

We?ve all seen the news lately ? big guys like Gawker and Sony falling heavily due to serious security vulnerabilities in their web application designs.

This session includes a brief intro to the risks web apps face and what OWASP is all about. There are then a few minutes on each of the OWASP Top 10 web application security risks in terms of both what the risk is (i.e. SQL injection allowing execution of unintended TSQL) and what the mitigation techniques are (i.e. input parsing, command parameterisation). The mitigations will specifically refer to facilities provided within ASP.NET.

Troy Hunt discusses:

  • Why we need to talk more about web app security
  • Who OWASP is and what are they doing for us
  • The OWASP Top 10 web app security risks
  • What each risk is
  • Exploiting the risk
  • Protecting against the risk
