Make your specification work |

What should be covered in specs? Are you in the middle of a software application? How is it going? Have the requirements changed much? Do you know what date this application will go into production? And when it goes into production how many changes are there going to be? This article outlines what I believe to be the minimal documentation required for successful rapid application development. Hopefully you can take away some points to use in your own projects. By now, everyone acknowledges that it is important to have some form of "specification" before coding is commenced. However, what does this so-called specification contain, and how is it useful? Often when commencing a project, our clients worry about the cost of the specification development. It is often perceived that this documentation hinders productivity, adds bureaucracy, delays shipping time and adds unnecessarily to the bottom line. Some developers also hold this view. Cheers

This version is much better than the one released in Office 2000, and includes a vastly expanded charting function which makes it a viable and powerful alternative to 3rd party charting software.
