Alex is an SSW UI/UX Designer specialising in product design, strategy and agentic engineering. He works inside Scrum teams with developers and product owners, taking products from discovery and user research to coded prototypes and handover. Alex designs and builds the front end, directing AI agents to ship working software, keep design systems consistent and build in WCAG accessibility from the first commit. His clients span finance, enterprise operations, travel and education.

Professional Development

Previously, Alex helped Australian startups shape their products toward product-market fit. Before that, he spent 5 years as a carpenter – so he doesn't shy away from a hard day's work and knows what it means to build with care and intention. Outside of work, you'll find him mastering his favourite video games, fixing his car (again), growing and propagating plants, firing up the barbecue with mates, or talking design over a beer or coffee.

Selected Work at SSW

Enterprise Pricing & Rebates Platform - An electronics distributor needed to replace the decades-old system behind its pricing, rebates and claims. Staff searched several systems to answer simple questions, and every team kept its own spreadsheets by hand. The copies drifted, leaving people blocked on each other's data or redoing work. Alex shared findings from on-site interviews with the SSW developers as he went, so the team could adjust course early. Together with the client, they shaped one system for every team, with a worklist showing what's waiting on whom. Alex built most of the front end and design system, and the client left with a working prototype, screen specs and a decision log.

Loan Settlement Tracking Platform - Brokers and lenders were phoning in hundreds of times a month to ask where their loan was up to. The aim was to show them, so they wouldn't need to call. The team mapped the settlement process with the client, put the prototype in front of real users early, and walked the client through progress at each Sprint Review. Using an agentic engineering workflow, Alex built the front end on a shared design system and closed 270+ tickets in about 7 weeks. The client made the key calls with user-testing data in hand, and the SSW developers inherited a documented handover.

AI Careers Pathway Chatbot - School leavers chasing a trade face a maze of state-by-state licensing rules, and generic AI chatbots get those details wrong. The three-day design sprint opened with a discovery workshop alongside 3 of the client's stakeholders. Together they shaped a mobile-first chat where AI handles the conversation and verified data supplies the licensing facts. Each chat ends with a pathway into a trade and an incentivised sign-up, so the client can follow up with campaigns and support. Alex's coded prototype became the basis for SSW's spec and estimate, and gave the client a walkthrough to take to their board for funding.

White-Label Travel Platform - A corporate travel platform wanted to be a one-stop shop for the companies that manage business travel. As development moved ahead, screens built from AI-generated designs and copy-pasted code drifted apart, and conflicting patterns piled up design debt. Working alongside the client's front-end developer, Alex looked at the product through its users' eyes and stripped the generated designs back to what customers needed. He set up a design system with an accessible brand palette, and the client's team shipped the shared foundation within 3 days of the on-site workshop. His product strategy and feature ideas now sit on their roadmap for later.

Earlier Work

Energy Optimisation Platform - Alex joined mid-build, bringing structure and simplicity to a rapidly evolving product. Working closely with the CEO and engineers, he facilitated cross-functional workshops, made design decisions aligned with business goals, and used Lean UX methods to iterate quickly as the product matured. He inherited a component library originally built for another domain and, in collaboration with developers, laid the foundation for a cohesive design system by repurposing what already existed.

Street Furniture Manufacturing - Alex led a complete brand and digital evolution for a street furniture manufacturer whose reputation for quality wasn't reflected in their brand or online presence – costing them project opportunities. As full-stack designer leveraging AI workflows, he delivered brand strategy, visual identity, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI. He then built the site in Webflow CMS with dynamic search filters, geolocation integration, a 3D product configurator, and SEO.
